In recent months viruses have become perhaps the most common topic of conversations around the world. This mean that thousands and thousands new articles, posts and infographics about them appeared in the traditional and social media. And this, of course, was associated with a whole lot of fake news, understatements and unverified information that rapidly spread on the web in a viral manner. It’s time to gather all this knowledge and look at it from scientific point of view, to obtain only proven and reliable information – scientific facts. This is exactly what we will do at the EXPERYMENT Science Center in Gdynia on August 23 on the SCIENCE CAFÉ meeting, during which doctor Łukasz Rąbalski will deal with disinformation about viruses.
The meeting will be held in Polish.
Łukasz Rąbalski – assistant professor at the Department of Recombinant Vaccines at the Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology of the University of Gdańsk and the Medical University of Gdańsk. From the beginning of his scientific career, he was interested in viruses, molecular diagnostics and preventing viral diseases. He was the first to obtain and publish the genetic sequence of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, isolated directly from a Polish patient.
